We know what you’re thinking, and no, it’s not terracotta. Though it may be having its moment in the spotlight right now (and for the last couple of years, for that matter), there is another color trend on the rise that is here to steal the show. Seriously, it’s not messing around.
Say hello to Navy.
You may think you know this color. You may think it’s familiar, safe, and maybe even a little passé. It’s hard, after all, to extricate the shade from its millennium-era association with Waspy outfitters like Tommy Hilfiger, GAP, and Burberry. While it’s true that navy is undeniably preppy, it also has the potential to be so much more and designers these days are proving it.
Softer than black, but just as sophisticated, navy is the new hottest color to pair with whites and neutral tones. It’s versatile, meaning you can use it sparingly to punch up a minimal interior or in large swaths to add depth and drama to any room.
And what’s more, navy complements natural materials like wood, wicker, and rattan, enhancing these pieces without cheapening its own deep, striking hue. Like a pine forest next to a brooding coastline—it’s moody and serene all at once.
